Valentine’s Day

Well, folks. This blog post will not be grammatically correct. It will probably have a lot of fragment sentences and maybe some incorrect contractions. But this is a letter directly and vulnerably from my heart to yours. This will be imperfect and messy, but sincere.

I just want to say one thing. Single ladies, we don’t need to hate valentine’s day. We don’t need to wish for it to be over, for it to never happen, etc. We just don’t need to. And you know why?

Because we’re already loved.

I’m a single lady this valentine’s day and I’m overjoyed. Because the fact that I’m single right now means that I haven’t settled. I’m not in a relationship just to combat the loneliness. Instead, I’m enjoying this season of singleness. Being able to focus on friendship right now is such a blessing.  (And omg just look how cute they are)

The other day, I was driving and thinking and I had the thought that I wished I had a boy in the front seat with me. I wished I had someone to sing my Jesus Jams with. Lately, as I’ve seen friends get engaged and love flourish, it’s reminded me that I don’t have that in my life right now. So y’all, it’s not that I don’t want a boyfriend. I just know that I haven’t met the right guy yet.

And ladies, it takes bravery to admit this. To admit that I feel lonely, but I want to wait on God’s timing. To admit that I really do want a boyfriend, but only if it’s God’s way. To look at the world and the way everyone else does relationships and know that I will not settle, because what God has for me is better. To say, “I’m content where I am.”

Y’all that’s hard. That requires trust; trust in the Lord to take care of you and meet all your needs. But it’s so worth it, to sit in the love that the Lord has for you and know that you rest secure. I hope that you can all feel that.

And so, with the mindset that we are secure and content where we are, we can celebrate valentine’s day.

Dear friends, we are already more loved by Jesus now than any man on this earth will ever be able to love us. We are already the max amount of loved. We are chosen. We are valued, treasured. We are already His “beloved.” So, let’s be joyful today!!! Let’s celebrate!!!

Single ladies, EMBRACE today. A day to remember loving people is so the heart of God.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.  In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

1 John 4:7-11

So let’s do it. Let’s be all about love. Let’s love our friends. Let’s love our families. Let’s write some sweet notes to people. Let’s love our single lady lives. Let’s spend some extra time today in the Word basking in the Love of God.

Today, for my single-girl-on-valentine’s-day plans, I’m gonna go bowling. I’m gonna play a LOT of board games. And at 5 o’clock, I’m going to go to the In-N-Out in Denton and facetime with my bestfriend who will be at the In-N-Out in San Marcos. We’ll eat cheeseburgers and fries together but 300 miles apart and it’ll be great. I’m gonna wear a pink sweater and I’m going to be ALL ABOUT valentine’s day. I hope you can be, too.
