Today is the first day of September! How exciting: a month full of new possibilities. I like to get excited over the little things, and the beginning of a new month is definitely one of them.
Today, in one of my classes, a peer said, “I’m giving up.” My teacher then exclaimed, “We don’t give up! We rejoice in the hope of the Glory of God!” Now, he said this lightly, but as I was thinking about it, I realized that this is what I want to focus on on this month of September: not giving up and, instead, making the choice to rejoice. Also, something I would like to point out is that being happy and being joyful are two different things. In my mind, happiness is temporary and, more often than not, fleeting. Joy is an attitude, a choice. You can’t exactly choose to be happy, but you can definitely choose to be joyful.Furthermore, I think of happiness as of man and joy to be as of God. So, in this month of September, and longer, I’m going to choose to carry the joy of the Lord with me, wherever I go and whatever the circumstance.
